1965. It is an exposition of this man's cunning and sometimes devious struggle
for fame and fortune as well as a brief outline of this branch of the Thomson
family which is hardly ever publicized and remains virtually unknown to most
people. Roy applied for a Thomson tartan and a Thomson coat of arms
which includes the motto, " Never a backward step". The tartan was
declaired to replace the MacTavish tartan which the Thomsons had previously
